Er-Gene Kahng and Ryan CockerhamViolinists Er-Gene Kahng and Ryan Cockerham take us on an extemporaneous exploration live from the Firmin-Garner Performance Studio ahead of their concert of the same name, which takes place 1 p.m. Sunday, May 4 at the Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall on the UA campus in Fayetteville. The duo will perform Arkansas premieres of work from Luigi Nono and Steve Reich, plus world premieres of music from Ryan Cockerham and Robert Mueller.
Piano Performance Students Launch a Concert Series

Piano performance students at the University of Arkansas have launched a new concert series called the NWA Community Classical Piano Student Concert Series. Piano professor Jura Margulis discusses the new venture along with three participating students. Catch the last two concerts tonight at 5:30 at the Fayetteville Public Library and 8 p.m. Sunday, May 4, at the Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall.

String students from the University of Arkansas Music Department in Fayetteville stop in to talk Mendelssohn and perform from his Octet inside the Firmin-Garner Performance Studio. They play the entire Octet for Andrew Chu's graduate recital 7:30 p.m. May 3rd at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Fayetteville.

Community Concert Band Celebrates 25 Years

The Arkansas Winds Community Concert Band celebrates its 25th anniversary this weekend with a concert at the Arts Center of the Ozarks in Springdale. French horn player Allen Fields, who has been with the ensemble the entire time, stopped by the Firmin-Garner performance studio along with three other horn players to perform and talk about the ensemble's history and mission.
