We have 19 public enrollment charter schools in Arkansas, two-thirds are independent, the rest operate under charter management organizations. Ahead on this edition of Weekend Ozarks, a float along the Buffalo River nearly a year after a hog farm started business near the waterway, and a brand new water park in Siloam Springs is almost ready for the public. And speaking of being ready for the public, the Walmart AMP in Rogers last night had its public debut. Blake Shelton was the first headliner to perform in the new venue, but a few days earlier, we got a sneak preview of the facility.

After the Shiloh Museum of Ozark History received a trove of old Depression-era photographs of subsistence Ozarks farmers, University of Arkansas Journalism Professor Dr. Patsy Watkins traced the collection to Boone County resident Ernest Nicholson, a rural rehabilitation caseworker under the New Deal’s Federal Emergency Relief Administration. Her research appears in the fall issue of the “Arkansas Historical Quarterly.”
