University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences Northwest Arkansas campus announced a $1.5 million gift from Willard and Pat Walker Charitable Foundation today. The gift will fund the construction of a clinical skills education center. The center’s scheduled to open by mid next year.

The Arkansas Department of Children and Families Services now provides “subsidized guardianships” for certain foster children placed within their family of origin. We hear from the director as well as Jennifer Ferguson with Arkansas Advocates for Children and Families.

The Arkansas Civil War Sesquicentennial Commission is commemorating the 150th anniversary of the Civil War in Arkansas. The Civil War Sesquicentennial will be celebrated between 2011 and 2015.
