He is also coauthor, with Douglas James, of “Arkansas Birds,” published by the University of Arkansas press.The headquarters of the Cherokee Nation, the second largest American Indian tribe in the U.S., is located 60 miles west of Fayetteville in Tahlequah, Oklahoma.
