Madison County residents won't see a sales tax increase, and the city sales tax in Siloam Springs will be split a little bit differently after special elections yesterday. The future site of the U.S. Marshals Museum in Fort Smith has moved slightly to another riverfront parcel that's twice the size. Residents in Benton County won't receive disaster aid for damage caused by the August storms. And more new jobs are coming to Fort Smith by way of another firearms-related company.


A blood drive kicks off on the U of A campus today in memory of victims of the September 11, 2001 attack and the Boston Marathon bombing. Governor Beebe hopes to use his chairmanship of the Southern Governor's Association to decrease Arkansas's high infant mortality rate. The Arkansas Department of Human Services wants to increase mental health awareness during September as a new report gives insight on mental health and substance abuse in the state.. And a Fayetteville tech firm gets a $2 million federal grant to improve hybrid-electric vehicle fuel efficiency.

Becca Martin Brown gives us an update on the local symphonies who have announced their seasons.
Andy Allen is the new head of the viticulture and enology programs at Arkansas Tech University-Ozark. He has previously served as an extension viticulture specialist for wine grapes with North Carolina State University at Raleigh and he now leads the programs at a campus that is five miles away from Altus, a town that has been the historic center of Arkansas’ wine-making industry.
