The six-county Ozark Mountain Solid Waste District filed for bankruptcy in January on a landfill and hauling franchise it purchased nearly ten years ago in north Baxter County as a money-making venture. As Jacqueline Froelich reports, a state legislator has stepped forward to allocate special funding to safely seal the site. Ahead on this edition of Ozarks, how the Children's House in Springdale is trying to help some of the most neglected and abused children in two northwest Arkansas counties. Plus, how a public forum tomorrow, also in Springdale, is designed to stimulate children's learning even when school is not in session.
Nearly 90 undergraduate students were awarded the Student Undergraduate Research Fellowship grants of up to $2,500 to conduct research. Joseph O'Neil is a senior majoring in horticulture in the Dale Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food and Life Sciences. His is the first in an Ozark at Large series of interviews with U of A Honor College students and their faculty mentors regarding the research work they've undertaken.
