Ozarks At Large
Ahead on this edition of Ozarks at Large, new enrollment numbers at the University of Arkansas; university officials announced this morning another record year for enrollment at the state's flagship campus. Plus, the testing isn't as often as it used to be, but there is still research being conducted on Arkansas deer for chronic wasting disease. The chief political scientist at UALR says that Lt. Gov. Mark Darr's decision to drop out of the race for Congress isn't overly surprising, as the political climate in Arkansas has recently been rife with scandal. And, the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission is working with other agencies to convert farmland back into woodlands and wetlands.

In 1963, Al Kuettner covered the March on Washington and Dr. King's speech on August 28, 1963. In 2007, he talked to Ozarks at Large about that day. His memoir is titled March to a Promised Land and was published in December, 2006. He died in May 2009.

Dave Baer made the drive from near Ponca to the Carver Center for Public Radio for his first visit to Ozarks at Large. He talks about writing songs and plays a couple as well.

More than 200 Arkansas public schools this winter received a piece of a $7 million dollar cream pie, under the Arkansas School Recognition and Reward Program. As Jacqueline Froelich reports, two of the schools are in Huntsville’s District.
