Proposed High Voltage Transmission Line Raises Ire and Questions
SWEPCO Protest in Eureka Springs, courtesy Doug StoweSouthwestern Electric Power Company plans to install a new 48-mile long 345-kV transmission line across northern Benton and Carroll Counties to prevent outages and improve service to the region, the company says. Thousands of affected residents, expected to crowd public comment hearings scheduled next week, will claim it’s destructive. But most remain in the dark about the project’s purpose.

Differing Opinions Agree Delaying Employer Mandate is Good
Both the state's Insurance Commissioner and Congressman Tim Griffin agree that the federal government's decision to delay implementation of the employer mandate in the Affordable Care Act is good, though Griffin sees the delay as a political ploy. Hillary Clinton is honored today in Little Rock. And Governor Mike Beebe urges Arkansans is spreading awareness about preventing summer forest fires.

The Hill Street water tower is where much of Siloam Springs's water supply is stored.Though the repainting the interior of a water tower is, relatively, routine, the exterior of the Hill Street water Tower in Siloam Springs has not been repainted since its construction in 1967. State Jobless Numbers Improve, Old Records Now Electronically Availaible

The Bureau of Labor Statistics released statewide jobless numbers Friday, showing a slight improvement to the unemployment picture in Arkansas. And Washington County records dating to before 2009 are now available online after necessary redactions were made.
