This weekend the annual Composer’s Showcase concert in Fayetteville will include original compositions of Rick Salonen.Though it may seem like a foreign concept to transplants to the region, natives of Washington County's rural areas still carry out the tradition of Decoration Day, on which families gather at cemeteries for fellowship and in honor of previous generations.

Youth Home serves thousands of teens from around the state annually and now has a bit more financial stability. Early next month the organization called the Military Order of the Purple Heart of the U.S.A. Inc. will hold its annual convention in Rogers. Senator John Boozman delivered the inaugural lecture in the food for Thought lecture series, presented by the Dale Bumpers College of Agricultural, food and Life Sciences. The discussion focused on many topics, one of which was fuel. And afterwards, the senator talked about his thoughts on the budget and how long sequestration will last.
In a rare opportunity, both of Arkansas' U.S. Senators were in Fayetteville at the same time, so we took the opportunity to ask them about the similarities of fundraising, whether for programming or a reelection campaign.
