This weekend the annual Composer’s Showcase concert in Fayetteville will include original compositions of Rick Salonen.Though it may seem like a foreign concept to transplants to the region, natives of Washington County's rural areas still carry out the tradition of Decoration Day, on which families gather at cemeteries for fellowship and in honor of previous generations.

Youth Home serves thousands of teens from around the state annually and now has a bit more financial stability. Early next month the organization called the Military Order of the Purple Heart of the U.S.A. Inc. will hold its annual convention in Rogers. Today is the 45th anniversary of the plane crash that claimed the lives of Otis Redding and four members of the Bar-Kays outside of Madison, Wisconsin. The sole survivor of that crash was Bar-Kays trumpet player, Ben Cauley. Cauley turned 65 this year, and Sara Hoover from our content partner WKNO in Memphis brings us his story.
