Ahead on this edition of Ozarks, Steve Yates collects inspiration for his short stories almost everywhere. From his time working on highways in Arkansas to a true crime story in Springfield, Missouri his new volume of stories, Some Kinds of Love runs the gamut from straight-ahead narrative to fantasy-laced science fiction. We'll talk to the former Fayetteville resident about his latest collection. Plus concern for some small banks in Arkansas and if you've ever been to the Waffle House on Dickson Street you're familiar with the restaurant's logo of a waffle chased by a hungry pig. We'll meet the artist behind that picture. More of her work is included in an exhibit in Springdale this month.
The Fayetteville Roots Festival is returning for a fourth year and today the full schedule is released.
Arkansas artist Elise Taylor chose an independence theme for her July exhibit at the library. Taylor also has work on display at Ink in Glass in Fayetteville and a Eureka Springs gallery this month.

On August 30, the University of Arkansas Architecture Department will begin its annual lecture series. The first film that will be screened focuses on a design/build education program in Alabama. The documentary examines architecture’s role in issues of poverty, class, race, education, social change and citizenship.

Remember as a child, playing with your shadow in bright sunlight? Twisting and turning, casting it about? For two Fayetteville women, their shadows became grist for both a transcendental workshop held this summer and an art exhibit. "Me and My Shadow" a collaborative photo collection by Joy Caffrey and Amy Eversole will be on display at Crossover Arsaga's through August.
