Lawmakers had steel on the brain this week and a business legend who influenced the Little Rock skyline passes away. Roby Brock from our content partner Talk Business Arkansas has more.A proposed bill by a local state lawmaker would allow certain people to carry concealed firearms on the state’s college campuses. That bill heads to the House Committee on Education in the Arkansas legislature. But, as Timothy Dennis reports, proponents and opponents of the issue have plenty to say about the bill.
A recent bill in the Arkansas legislature would reward state employees who report waste or inefficiency with state money, and lawmakers speak out on a recently released audit of the state's Medicaid system. And, smaller beef cattle herds in the state caused by last year's drought may result in higher beef prices at the grocery store.
On this edition of Weekend Ozarks: Christina Thomas helps us ring in the Year of the Snake with a field trip to the Reptile Museum and she takes us into the kitchen at Ella’s to find out how a new quiche cup there was inspired by our program.This is our list of items for this morning’s montage of snakes:

Today is Chinese New Year, beginning the Year of the Snake. In honor of the holiday, Ozarks at Large's Christina Thomas visits the Reptile Museum in Fayetteville to take a look at some snakes, alligators and other scaly beasts.

During a recent visit to the studio, Don't Stop Please performed an original song called Henry and the Great Salt Lake.
Changes have already been made to the Arkansas Department of Community Corrections, with more changes still to come. Although the state's unemployment rate didn't change from May to June, that doesn't take into account several layoffs that have happened in the past month. Gas prices have been on the rise across Arkansas, with still higher prices on the horizon. And 39 permits have been issued for retail liquor sales in Benton County, leaving 16 potential permits still up for grabs.
