The Care Foundation announces more than $3 million in grants that aim to help underserved children with pre-K and food security programs. The Fayetteville city council approved governance changes for the Walton Arts Center. And state legislators approve changes to public school employee insurance plans.


The summer months provide plenty to see in galleries around the region, including Adam Posnak's solo exhibit at Sugar Gallery in Fayetteville.
The Beaver Watershed Alliance has been working on assessing ways to improve water quality of the West Fork of the White River. As part of the project, the group is holding public meetings to engage residents and landowners alike.
The Legislature began discussing the items on the special session agenda yesterday in Little Rock.

Last night, three of the first African-American men to play football at the University of Arkansas shared some of their playing-days’ stories at the University of Arkansas Library. Yesterday afternoon, a few hours before the panel discussion, the three athletes, Brison Manor, Johnnie Meadors and Dennis Winston, met with reporters to talk about being recruited in the early 1970s to the university.
