The Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration releases revenue projections for the 2014 fiscal year ahead of next year's Fiscal Session of the Arkansas General Assembly. Governor Mike Beebe is sued by one of the leaders of the state Republican Party over an alleged violation of the state's Freedom of Information Act. Fort Smith transit officials propose a fare increase to help offset rising overhead costs. And Van Buren officials get a peek at a proposed budget for next year.
On this edition of Ozarks, a united effort to protect the single largest source of drinking water in northwest Arkansas. The Beaver Watershed Alliance wants to use information, muscle and policy to protect the water around us. Plus the Fayetteville Jazz Collective is getting ready for a big holiday concert.
Along with the Kings River Watershed Partnership, which formed in 2001, and the Illinois River Watershed Partnership which organized in 2005, the Beaver Watershed Alliance, established three years ago, is also working to improve regional water quality. Arkansas Secretary of State Mark Martin has announced the installation of new voter ID photo systems in all Arkansas counties. The project is in compliance with a new state Voter ID law, passed this year by the Arkansas legislature. Plus, 47 miles a day: that's how far, on average, a female hiker hiked to make it through the Appalachian Trail in fewer than 50 days. Hiker and author Jennifer Pharr Davis stops by the studio, and we get some tips on how to get into running.
Dave Baer made the drive from near Ponca to the Carver Center for Public Radio for his first visit to Ozarks at Large. He talks about writing songs and plays a couple as well.

More than 200 Arkansas public schools this winter received a piece of a $7 million dollar cream pie, under the Arkansas School Recognition and Reward Program. As Jacqueline Froelich reports, two of the schools are in Huntsville’s District.
