After Pulaski County Circuit Court Judge Chris Piazza overturned the state’s constitutional ban on same-sex marriage late Friday, dozens of couples rushed to the only courthouse open in the state on Saturday to obtain licenses—in the “Wedding Capital of the South”--Eureka Springs. Jacqueline Froelich was there. (UPDATE: As of 10:45am May 12th, the Carroll County Clerk's office stopped issuing licenses to same-sex couples, until further notice.)

Ahead on this edition of Weekend Ozarks, the cajun-zydeco group, Snake Eyes and the Bug Band, will perform this afternoon at the Fayetteville Public Library' we hear a conversation and a song from the band, and it's sort of like soccer but on horseback: polo in Bentonville. On game days, Tusk IV, the live mascot for the University of Arkansas, travels from his home near Dardanelle to Fayetteville to help cheer on the Razorbacks.

Under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, a quarter of a million residents are eligible to enroll in free private health insurance made possible by the new Arkansas Healthcare Independence Program. Arkansas is the only state to expand Medicaid coverage via this "private option."
