Speaker of the Arkansas House wants to call a special session of the state legislature to deal with problems with the insurance program for public school employees, and Crawford County officials are hopeful that county voters will approve a sales tax increase that would help the county build a new jail.

Last Friday, the Hope Supply Center, a service of the Breast Cancer Society, opened on Walton Blvd. The center will offer supplies, such as wigs and bras, to those affected by breast cancer. Becca says that there will be plenty of opportunities to hear about architecture as a new lecture series begins at Crystal Bridges.
Bo Bartlett and Betsy Eby collaborated on a documentary about their years-long art road trip. They discussed the project while at Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art last month.

And, we take a trip along the Buffalo River nearly a year after a controversial swine breeding operation began business.
The Tontitown Grape Festival continues tonight, and Weird Sisters opens at Arts Live in Fayetteville. Becca Martin Brown has the details on these stories and more.

This summer five Republican legislators sent a letter to Governor Mike Beebe and his Medicaid team, asking them to slow down on Medicaid reforms and a possible expansion made possible when the U.S. Supreme Court upheld the Affordable Care Act. Roby Brock from talkbuisness.net recently spoke with one of the GOP legislators, Johnny Key of Mountain Home.
The full season for Walton Arts Center is still a few weeks away. However, Jodi Beznoski reminds us that Second City, Miranda Lambert, the final concert in the KUAF Summer Jazz Festival and the Fayetteville Roots Festival are all set for this month.
